Blind Faith
By Sagarika Ghose
It is yet another NRI spiel, in which Mia, the main protagonist must eventually travel to India to seek the truth about her life. We follow the journey of a girl, who has lost her anchoring in life after her father’s suicide, from London to Delhi and eventually to Prayag for the Kumbh Mela. On another parallel we follow one woman’s battle against Retinitis Pigmentosa which will eventually leave her blind. We want to admire Indi’s spirit for refusing to be pitied and going on to live life on her own terms, but she is just too inhuman to believe. For valid reasons she dislikes her family and illogically takes it out on her son whose normalcy she is envious of. The son, Vik, is the link to their individual stories; he is the husband who whisks away Mia from London to Delhi. It is also him on who the climax is based, but I won’t spoil it for you. Worth a read if you like to keep an open mind.
