Movie Review: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

A typical corny, cheesy love story, where the girl has to marry her dying father’s best student because her groom dies on the way to the wedding. Then the adjustments begin and the story gets a bit predictable. Some nice scenes and well done moments. The husband is Shah Rukh Khan, the bachelor who falls in love and hard. How he goes about changing himself to help his new and reluctant bride laugh and forget her sorrow.

A dance competition where she wants to take part comes to Amritsar, the town of their dwelling. Sort of like the Nach Baliye version on Cine Screen. Since she loves to dance he gives her the money to participate, then gets a make over and ends up as her partner. Slowly the showy and flashy dance partner causes both the husband and wife to loose inhibitions and have fun. Then the crux of the matter is that the wife loves the dance partner and not her husband.

Even though the two of them are the same person. The golgappas at paranthe wali gali, the dhoom style murder of macho, the fight with the Japanese sumo, all are fun and entertaining. The dance in the climax is well done and music is excellent. As always the movie survives on King Khan’s killer charm.
