As I mentioned in my last post, Rehaan is on his summer break from school. Which leaves me without my three hour break from him. So to pass the time and keep us entertained we do a lot of things together all day. The holiday home work is coming along nicely. The Thomas the Tank Engine CD is on its way to getting ragadoed. And we have started telling stories.
It all began with what Rehaan calls the “Fairy Story.” I wanted him to pick up a few of the fairy tales that I grew up on, but there seemed too much multimedia competition. So one day when we were about to sleep, but were not sleepy, I came up with the bedtime story concept. I started out with what I thought was Sleeping Beauty, but soon lost control over the details.
The story was a big hit and became a popular repeat all that week at bed time. Here’s what it sounds like.
Once upon a time there was a Princess. It was her birthday, so her mama and her papa who were the King and the Queen decided to give her a big birthday party. (A concept we relate to) So they sent out invitation cards to everybody in the Palace and the city and the whole Kingdom.(Another concept we relate to) And to the fairies as well. But they forgot about one fairy (Dramatic Pause.)
On the day of the birthday party that fairy was very angry. She came to the party and gave a curse to the princess. She said when the princess turns 16 years old she will prick her finger on a spindle and die. The King and the Queen were very unhappy and asked the other fairies for help. So another fairy said, that when the princess turns 16 years old, she will prick her finger on a spindle, but she won’t die. She will fall asleep for a hundred years. When the hundred years are over a prince will come and give her a kiss. Then she will wake up.
So that is exactly what happened. And when the princess woke up the King and the Queen were so happy that they decided to throw another party. And every one was dancing -
Rehaan : Mama to what song were they dancing?
Mama : What song…? You tell me
Rehaan : They were dancing to Pappu can’t dance sala.
Mama : Okay
So everyone danced to Pappu can’t dance sala and had a great time. The End.
Did you enjoy that story?
