Its once in a lifetime such a person comes into the world who catches the imagination of the entire body of nations that make up the world. After today’s announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize for President Obama, I think its safe to say that he is one such person.
I was reading the citation the Norwegian committee had released which said “Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future.”
He sure did that, but did he do anything specific to promote peace? Considering that Jimmy Carter won the same prize in 2002 and Al Gore in 2007, is the US head office being awarded or the man who heads it? It is difficult to separate the man from his office at that stage. The office is an extension of the man, and vice versa.
What’s my take on this? I am happy he won, as I feel he did take some concrete steps to sort out the mess left to him by Bush. At the same time I feel he won thanks to reverse discrimination.
The fact that he who he is has little to do with his winning the prize. Other presidents of smaller nations have done just as much if not more. Yet with the US yeh dil mange more.

You got that right, its reverse discrimination, sort of over compensation
