The narration in the video is not too clear so am adding the script here. Plus it is an instant nativity play for parents hard pressed for time. I may need to use it next year too
Nativity Play Tableau
(Stable scene, shooting star on top, hay if possible on ground, animal cut outs if possible)
A long time ago, on a cold, dark, winter night two people came to the city of Bethlehem. The king Caesar Augustus declared that there will be a census. Everyone will be counted and must return to their native towns. So Joseph was forced to travel with his pregnant wife Mary, who was unable to walk. A trusty donkey was her steed. When they reached Bethlehem all the inns were full, there was no room to be had. One inn keeper took pity on the couple and allowed them to spend the night in his stable.
(Enter Joseph and Mary as carol starts. Make bed and take positions)
O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight
There in that manger surrounded by animals Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ. Shepherds who were minding their flock of sheep saw a bright star shinning in the sky. An Angel came and told them to follow the star to the barn it shone above. To go there to see the new born king.
(Enter Angel leading the shepherds as carol starts)
While shepherds watched,
their flocks by night
They see a bright new shining star
They hear the choir of angels sing
the music seems,to come, from afar
Hark now hear the angels sing
A new king born today
And man will live forever more
Because of Christmas day
The new born king soon had more important visitors, the Magi! The three wise men knew that the star was a sign from heaven above. They also followed the star with gifts for the new born Christ. The first brought gold, the second brought him Frankincense and the third bore myrrh.
(Enter 3 wise men as carol starts)
We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star
O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy Perfect Light
It is because Jesus Christ was born on this day that we celebrate Christmas. He brought love and light to us so that we would live better lives. Remember Christmas is about being a good human being and giving your best to others and not just about the gifts you get.
Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.
(All stand and hold hands)
Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Don we now our gay apparel, Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Troll the ancient Yule tide carol, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
See the blazing Yule before us, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Strike the harp and join the chorus. Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Follow me in merry measure, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
While I tell of Yule tide treasure, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Fast away the old year passes, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Hail the new, ye lads and lasses, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Sing we joyous, all together, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
Heedless of the wind and weather, Fa la la la la, la la la la.
